Joy Bryant given the lead role in latest film version of Sexual Perversity in Chicago

The female lead in the so far untitled Screen Gems’ romantic comedy has been awarded to Joy Bryant. It is based on the play, Sexual Perversity in Chicago, which became the film About Last Night, starring Rob Lowe, Demi Moore, Elizabeth Perkins and Jim Belushi.

Joy will take the Demi Moore role, Michael Ealy will be in the role played by Lowe in the film, Kevin Hart in the Jim Belushi role and Regina Hall in the part played by Elizabeth Perkins. Directing will be Steve Pink and the script is by the Bachelorette’s Leslye Headland.

Will Packer and Will Gluck are producing and production begins on September 17th. The film is still awaiting a new title and this time the action will take place in Los Angeles instead of Chicago. It is hoped, though, that the script will be closer to Mamet’s original play than About Last Night was.

Clint Culpepper, Screen Gems president, has been raving about Joy Bryant, saying that since he first saw her in Antwone Fisher, he knew she was going to be a star. He thinks that this will be the film that really does it for her. Culpepper says that she is ‘funny, smart, gorgeous and a good actress’ and that he is really pleased she has been given this role.
