The majority of the theme of the movie Kung Fu Panda 2 is explained in a brief part before in the beginning when it is revealed that the devilish peacock Lord Shen plans to destroy Kung Fu and take over China. Enter Po (voiced over by Jack Black) the lead in Kung Fu Panda and before long Po and the Furious Five – Crane, Tigress, Viper, Mantis and Monkey – hurry off to save China and Kung Fu. That is the movie in a nutshell.
Kung Fu Panda 2 is an adequate sequel to the first but the first still remains the better of the two. The second is much like a cartoon on Saturday morning that is carried out in just 30 minutes, with this one stretching to 90. While a bit of his past is played out the majority of the movie is a chase scene through towns, over rivers and through a fortress.
It seems as the though the sequel was a rush to get judgment. Make the sequel, get it into the theaters and then start to promote Kung Fu Panda 3 which is the force behind this film because of the final scene.
Lord Chen is the evil peacock that has a plan to take over China. He creates a weapon that gives him power as he wishes because of a grudge he holds from prior insults. As part of conquering China he decides that the weapon will also work in eliminating Kung Fu. The movie is good but nothing special. It is a safe film and will appeal immensely to the youngsters and isn’t that what these are supposed to do, be for the kids.
