Andy and Lana Wachowski, creators of Matrix, have come up with another original sci-fi presentation called Jupiter Ascending, and a couple of already ascended talents have been picked to play the leads. Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis are lined up as male and female headliners, though the plot is still a mystery.
The Wachowski team just completed production on Cloud Atlas, and reportedly have tried to get financing on a script about a U.S. soldier and an Iraqi in a gay relationship, with little success. As for Jupiter Ascending, very little is known except that Warner Bros. decided on Channing and Mila as the potential stars.
Mila Kunis has some serious credits to her name, with her roles in Black Swan, The Book of Eli and Friends With Benefits bringing critical acclaim. She also has upcoming roles in Seth McFarland’s risque comedy Ted, and in the Disney production Oz: The Great and Powerful.
Tatum is only recently getting critical approval; he’s been cruising on his good looks but began showing his acting stuff in The Dilemma and more strongly in 21 Jump Street and The Vow. This one may be the role that puts him up there with Keanu Reeves, who made his chops with The Matrix.
