Working Title try for third cult comedy

Fans of the hilarious cult classics ‘Shaun of the Dead’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’ will be delighted to hear that the third film from the same team is on the way.

Director Edgar Wright, once more in cahoots with producers Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title, is about to begin filming on the another film that also reunites the stars of the previous  two.

‘The World’s End’ is the film’s title and is the name of a bar that happens to be the goal at the end of a bar-hopping trip down memory lane. The plot involves five fellows on a youthful pub crawl, which one of them is determined to re-enact in his and his pals’ middle age.

He persuades them to rejoin him in their home town to try once more to reach the ‘World’s End’ pub, but they find they’re approaching the actual world’s end . . . and we don’t know what happens after that.

Like ‘Shaun’ and ‘Hot Fuzz’, this one stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost, with other casting unknown at present. At last report the producers are waiting for the go-ahead from Universal Pictures, but it’s doubtful they’ll balk, considering the box office success of the first two films. Filming is expected to start in September, with a release date sometime next spring.
